Hidden Pain

Hearts that cry with tears never seen

Arms that bleed, covered up by sleeves

Bruises behind a painted smile

Lies of unworthiness treated as truth

Nobody sees, nobody knows

But on the inside, pain overwhelms

Why don’t we notice?

We only know how they feel, once it’s too late

If only we paid more attention

If only we loved a little better

Some say it’s their choice

But so what if it is

I will choose to love and look inside

To hug them tight, forcing the pain outside

To show them they’re loved

Hoping they hold that tight
