Homeless Man

Location

A dull blue hat upon his head
Black ripped gloves are on his hands
Lost and somewhat confused
There's this homeless man

Rather he's lying on the bench
or smoking in a park
He always preaches stay in school
Because everyone's smart

He told me he was a veteran
He fought in a historic war
But, life struck him soon after
And everything was torn

He smells of alcohol
and asks for some spare change
I gave him about five bucks
And then I saw his face

So happy and so hopeful
just so he can buy some beer
This homeless man is breaking down
As I saw him shed those tears
