A hopeful future

Every day that goes by, I think of the man that I wish to be.

Though I sometimes forget, I look in the mirror and see,

A man with a pen who writes tales of great wonder,

Of a hero who saves a world from being torn asunder.

He does it not for the fame or a fortune of his own,

Not for a nice car or a large fancy home.

No, he does it for children who will or who may read his tales and say,

“I want to be just like that man someday.”

“I want to be big and strong and heroic too!”

“ I want to make the world better for me and for you.”

To make the world better for all who will be,

This is the job that I want for me.
