Humanity

Location

What uplifts me

Is the kindness in humanity

Just knowing that there are some kind people left

Because I feel at this rate, helping one another one day will seem like only a myth

A city coming together to fulfill a dying child’s wish

People interfering to bullying, saying "No, we must stop this"

Strangers stopping to pull people out of a burning house or car

A teacher caring for a student saying, “If you ever need me, I’m not too far”

People helping people, not looking for recognition

Sometimes it’s hard to help someone because you don’t know if they have evil intentions

What uplifts me is someone giving a helping hand to the poor

Wiping someone’s tears saying “You don’t have to cry anymore”

Letting someone know that they aren’t alone, while they grab their hand

And take a stand

Someone understanding that our differences don’t make a difference, no reason to feel shame

Because at the end of the day, we’re human, so therefore we're all the same

Someone embracing everyone’s gifts

What uplifts me is the kindness in humanity

Or maybe what uplifts me is that humanity still exists

Because we live in a day and age

Where it seems most are filled with rage

And hate for one another

The strength of family seems to weaken, people will kill their own brother

Like a dog eat dog world, you must fend for yourself

Defend for yourself

Like where the people who care

Killings, murders, kidnappings, the news is filled with despair

The smell of blood seems to be in the air

So what uplifts me and can bring a tear to my eye

Is when kind acts are done, letting me know that humanity hasn’t completely died
