I AM FROM

Mon, 11/30/2015 - 00:06 -- kataboh

I am from the warm clothes on my back and the hard work ethics.

I am from the food put on my plate daily,

From the nice beaches and the clear blue skies.

I’m from the warm touch of my mother and

From the loving smiles of father.

I’m from Olivia and Clement.

I’m from “Hard work pays off” and “Read your books!”

I’m from the “hard workers” and the “know-it-alls.”

I am from our savior who died for our sins.

I’m from my dreams of becoming a doctor and saving lives.

I am from Susan and John.

I’m from my grandma who taught me everything I know,

From cleaning the house and how to be a respectful strong woman.

I’m from my grandma’s finger licking African food (jama jama and coco coco).

From my grandpa telling me to take naps often and stop playing too much.

I am from those great memories,

That are stored for my family and generations ahead.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My country
