I Am Me

Location

Without technology, I am a care free girl,

I would pick up a ball and throw it as far as I could and see how far it whirls.

With tecnology now I must be careful of it all,

Because God forbid a picture be posted that makes me look bad and have it end up on my wall.

However, I wouldn't necessarily care because I always try to be me,

A girl who doesn't care about much but school and sports and her family.

My friends mean everything but my family even more!

With any single one of them, the world, I would like to explore.

I curse a majority but am never derogatory at those who lift me high,

And to those who speak down to me, a simple "screw you" suffices as well as a goodbye.

I play softball in college and when I do I have the time of my life,

The friends I have made will always be around to help me through every strife.

The thing that annoys me, however, are the sterotypes put in place,

By people who make rude, obscene comments behind their phones but shy away when it comes face to face.

Whether it is about my sport, my family or a friend,

I promise that I will always do my best to stand up for them and defend.

I don't take well to hatred or the mistreating of another,

Especially when it is someone I care about dearly, a friend, my father, sister, mother or brother.

Superficial I am not, in fact, most of the time I could care less,

I have been given everything that I cannot change and for that I am blessed.

Who I am with technology is who I am without,

Without filters on my pictures and words, I am still myself, without a doubt.
