I am me

I look at the mirror,

if you ask me what I’m like, I’ll tell you:

“I cannot be defined

by my looks, nor by my mind,

I am just me”

I know people judge me,

I know what they say is wrong,

they don’t understand me,

in fact, they don’t know me

At all

When people look at me, they see:

crooked teeth,

cracked, chapped lips,

a porey, blemished nose,

thick, bulky thighs,

manly, female arms,

dry skin, and even wrinkles

already at the age of fourteen years old

When people look at my nature, they see a:

dork, book worm,

show off, weirdo,

nerd, geek, no-life dweeb,

oddball, freak show,

and a try hard with no balance in life

When people look through me, they see:

nothing.

They have no idea of my story,

or the journeys I’ve been through,

or the situations I’ve encountered,

and ones I’ve been hoping I’d have the chance to

Along with my wayfaring,

I’ve come upon some creatures;

Plants, animals, humans, and life

are the core and structure of my adventures

Accompanying the odyssey of my life,

I’ve felt several emotions,

Emotions that bring tears to my eyes;

anger, grief, fear, sorrow, and even happiness,

are responsible for the rivers I cry

I look at the mirror,

if you ask me what I’m like, I’ll tell you:

“I cannot be defined

by my looks, nor by my mind,

I am just me”

You still have no idea of who I am

even after reading this sonnet,

My story is not yet finished,

and more will be accomplished.

And after that, I still cannot be defined

This poem is about:
Me
