I Am... Scholarship Slam

I am a modern-day warrior,

That defends our world from evil.

I will never give in,

For I am a conquerer of the devil.

I am a leaf,

Passing by in the autumn breeze.

Yet I am a tree,

That will not go down with ease.

I am a compassionate friend,

That will always find ways to make you smile.

I will be remembered by all,

So that I know my time here was worth while.

I am a paradox with two legs,

No, I am not a paradox.

I am simply me,

Like everyone else I can walk and jump and run and talk.

But I am not like everybody else,

For I am something that words alone cannot describe.

Picture a world that is pitch black,

You hold your hand an inch from your face

And still you cannot see.

Turn around and look behind your back.

Off in the distance there is a lone lantern that glows brightly.

That lantern that you see reminds you of hope,

Which should remind you of me.

I AM ME.
