I Am From Wherever I Want To Be From

I am from wherever I want to be from.

I am from a World Series at one years old, Disney World, and Thursday night pizza smelling so good, but always needing red crushed pepper.

I am from the Bronx, N.Y. and Englewood, N.J.. I am from the meatloaf tasting so amazing and juicy and hot dogs at the Yankee game.

I am from Uncle David teaching me hip-hop history, to Uncle Jonathan telling me to skip high school and go in to the work force.

I am from Thanksgiving nights in the bright city that never sleeps and Mother’s Day in good old boring Englewood,  like watching “I Love Lucy”.

I am from a family of Germans who speak too much Yiddush around the kids when they don’t want me to understand.

I am from an annual trip to Israel and a not so annual trip any more to the White House to chill with George.

I am from a family of givers and founders.

I am from being terrified of the robber on my main floor who comes almost every night and never takes anything.

I am from ADD pills in the morning and sleeping pills for insomnia at night.

I have a crazy mom and a great dad.

I am from wherever I want to be from.
