I didn't know what that meant

My mom said patience is a virtue

My dad said I needed to follow the golden rule

I didn't know what that meant

She said that once we die, we're gone forever

He said that once we die, we come back as whatever we want

I didn't know what that meant

My teacher said life was an oxymoron

The students said that school is a prison

I didn't know what that meant

The article said that Jesus was a brand of jeans

The magazine said that we should lose weight but we should eat the cake

I didn't know what that meant

They said that we had to grow up

They said we had to quit following our dreams

They tried to push us into a already formed life

I pretended I didn't know what they meant
