I Don't Believe, Do You?
I don't believe in this country
I believe in it's people
I believe in the people who struggle and work hard to get where they need to go
I believe in the people who speak up against injustice
I don't believe in war
I believe that it is just a way for men and women to torture innocent people of another country
I believe in my interpretations of the laws made by congress
But not their intentions
A country that feeds us so many lies to give us impressions of the white man that are Not necessarily true
The belief that we all had that this "Honest Abe" spoke warm truth of equality
But a racist and cold honesty
I believe in the good and the bad of all people no matter their race
Ethnicity
What has this world become?
Are things better now ?
I believe that we are all a family.
A family that dislikes their brothers and sisters
And for what?
Their skin color or religious beliefs.
What has happened to this family over the years ?
Why have we raged war with one another!
Why have we raped one another?
Why are we killing innocent boys who wear hoodies?
Why are our rights being argued and decided by people who know nothing of our circumstance?
Like I said I believe in people who know the struggle
Who are the struggle
And try their hardest to beat that struggle
I believe women should have a say in whether they want an abortion
Whether it's in the first 3 months,
5 months
Or 7 months
Who are the states filled with men
White men !
Decide the fate of our bodies and children.
I don't believe in that shit
Nor do I believe that police officers have the right to abuse their authority
Putting their hands in places they shouldn't , this so called search and seizure
I know my rights
That's four
But that don't have nothing to do with you frisking me
I believe that this family needs to get their act together.
Because just like my words and ideas
I t ' s ALL OvEr the P L AC e
Floating in empty space
Waiting to be picked by the people who are willing to address these issues
These struggles
These circumstances
I believe in a fair fight
And I don't believe over the years the majority of our family has been given a fair fight.
Or Trayvon Martin
Emmett Till
Martin Luther King
Malcolm X
And so many others would still be alive
As I look around on the train the faces change, the skin colors change and I think to Myself
Things might be getting a little better
But lets spread the diversity and let it be known that anyone can come to this country Because no matter what you are you will be accepted in this land of the
