I Had To Do It

I smell the dead roses in the air

I feel the wind through my hair

I see the dark sky and the full moon

My heart starts to race as I walk closer

Closer, closer, and closer to your body

Lying there so peacefully in our bed

My fingers begin to shake

My toes begin to crawl

My skin starts to itch

I place it over your heart

One jab was all I needed

I pulled the knife out slowly

Watched you bleed out

This is what you deserved

Why did you have to lie?

I saw what you did

It hurt my soul to see you with her

It broke me down

To see you take our precious child

Place it in a trash bag

Floating on the Atlantic ocean

I lost my world

You lost your life

I’m sorry

But I had to do it

To you
