I hope the same

I can see the muddy footprints

On the sliding wood door frame

I can see the tracks of tires

But you left before I came.

Without a breath

Without a sliver

Of respect to my name.

And I just want to say

I hope someday, to you,

Someone will do the same.

Oh it could never be me,

I’ve got places to be

And I’m really much too tame.

And I’m just really pathetic-

You know, you’ve said it-

I love you much more than I claim.

Even when you stomp on my heart

I can’t go too far,

But I hope to you

Someone will do the same.

You just don’t know how it works,

Is to love just to hurt?

I don’t know if you’re the one to blame.

No such thing as sweet sorrow

Take this pain just to borrow

And I hope you feel a bit of shame.

You know one day you’ll leave

I’ll be finally free

And maybe someday to you,

Someone will do the same.

Or maybe I’ll be the one

Who is finally done,

And hits the ‘X’ on this stupid love game.

And I’ll leave you or your own,

Womanless, alone

So everyone can see you’re lame.

I’ll have my own home

With a man who dotes

On me like I’m the queen of Spain.

And I know I shouldn’t say this,

I know I should be anguished,

But someday for you I really hope

Someone will do the same.
