I love you

I'm happy now.

You were right,

I do need this.

I'm funny!

And people laugh at my jokes

and hold the door open for me

and ask me to join them for meals

and ask me for math help

and say they're glad to meet me

and talk with me past their bedtimes

and walk their bikes when I haven't brought mine

and keep me in check.

Sometimes I smile when I first wake up,

And you know I'm not

a morning person.

Can you believe

the kid you started teaching

over four years ago

is happy now?

Because I am.

I'd bet the world

that you've known it

since the day we met.

That I'm worth more than something.

People laugh at things I say!

They really do. A lot.

I love you.

You'll deny all involvement

from now until forever.

But it's true.

I can't tell you this.

I love you.

I love you.

I love you.

So from now until forever

I won't be forgetting

how to hold a drumstick.

All the angles, exercises,

posture, stance, attitude.

I love you.
