I Wish You Were Here

I wish you were here

I miss the smiles we shared

And the good times we had

I miss the companionship

Someone not just willing to spend time with me

But wanting to

I miss how you looked when the smile

Reached your eyes

When you weren’t just faking it for them

And then you would look down and away

As if you were embarrassed at being happy

But you were happy

With me at least

I know you had to leave

And I know it had nothing to do with me

But more than anything in the world

I wish you were here
