I Wish You Were Still In Kindergarten

Being a child in kindergarten was easy to manage.
Easy to feed because I was picky.
Easy to teach because I caught on fast.
Easy to buy clothes for because I was small.
Easy to shop for Christmas gifts because all I wanted was toys.
Easy to style my hair because my mom always put hairbows and barrettes in it.
Easy to know where I'll be afterschool.
Easy to know that I won't have a boyfriend because I was too young.
Easy to know that puberty wasn't in effect yet.
And easy to get along with.

Now that I am older and mature.
It's hard to feed me because I like meals that cost over $10.
Hard to teach because I want to learn more.
Hard to buy clothes for because I am bigger and my clothes cost more.
Hard to shop for Christmas gifts because I don't play with toys anymore.
Hard to style my hair because I hate hairbows and barrettes.
Hard to know where I'll be afterschool because I am always busy.
Hard to know who my next heartbreak will fall upon.
Hard to deal with my puberty challenges.
And hard to get along with because I'm anti-social.

My mother sees how much I have changed.
From my likes and dislikes
Puberty and social life.
And when she notices all the new things she has to deal with
She says, " I wish you were still in kindergarten."
