I won't give up on you

Dear Earth,

I need to apologize for I have hurt you.

I have gone through my daily life being selfish,

Not thinking that maybe what I was doing was slowly killing you.

You have given all of us beautiful landscapes and resources,

Yet we only take and give you carbon dioxide in return.

I know there is a limit to what you can give before you overheat

But I just hope society can figure out how to cure your manmade disease soon.

I know that time is of the essence.

I should be doing more.

I recycle and compost, telling myself it is enough,

But it is not.

I call myself the leader of Environmental Club but I fear it is a scam.

I truly care about you. I really do.

But I should be fighting for you.

I will try harder. I will spread awareness.

I will emit less carbon by taking the train instead of a car.

I will go vegan for you.

Because I want to help you.

I want to make sure my children and grandchildren get to know you the way I do.

Because, Earth, you mean the world to me.

Love,

Cloe Mueller
