I'm Scared

I stand on the edge of a cliff

the roar of the waves beneath me

and stare into the night sky

it is raining now

I scream into the void

all of the pain of the past

I give it up to the ocean and sky

But I am just a person

One out of billions

in a universe that is indifferent to my existence

in a world that will go on

the roar of the ocean grows louder and louder

I'm scared of the dark

I'm scared of the ocean

I'm scared of the storm

I'm terrified of falling.

Lightning flashes like angel's wings over the horizon

I take a step back from the edge

I run back to the safety of shelter

Beneath the waves, the unknown still lurks.
