Infancy

Much like in someone's infancy, we are let to roam free

in a sea of joy and being naive.

Perhaps they may try to sieve through our thoughts,

but in growth it's important to have hope,

despite any slippery slope.

Whether learning to crawl or learning to intellectually brawl,

we must simply accept we will never know it all.

Human intelligence is a maze which never fails to amaze

and one must find himself enclosed within those four walls,

and having been rushed through all of those halls

before learning that knowledge benefits us all.

Once you leave, you'll see a bigger light,

one that intrigues you to fight or to take flight.

It all depends on you, you know

and the intelligence you choose to show.

Four calls we were once enclosed in, we called a crib.

Did we eventually climb out of it? We did.

Thus, no obstacle proves to be too big.

As we get bigger, so do our issues, which might even require a few boxes of tissues

but one thing I'll always know, whether in snow or rain

Is that we will always endure pain.

We must simply choose what we endure it for.

It's got to be something special to have you bawling on the floor,

much like we all did at the age of four or two.

It's something we all must do and will end up doing anyway

and in the place I am right now

I'd like to grow and keep showing the world the value of what we know.

Poetry has taught me many valuable lessons

In the valleys of sadness and on the summits of joy,

Sentences dance and words prance,

there is a poem for every situation, every feeling

there is never anyone dealing with anything alone.

It is a light that shone through when there were no answers.

It is a friend that holds you amidst disasters.

It is a beacon of hope and truth when the only answer comes within you.

Poetry, my highest respect.
