Inside Daddy's Notebooks

Location

Inside Daddy’s Notebooks

My fingers allow me to fly away from consciousness

Traveling through my own Eternal pains,

The pen speaks to the most broken hearts including mine

Meanwhile trees continue to grow as blood flows

In the midst of sorrow my heart produces hopeful thoughts

Damaged I am like the son that needs love

In three words that equaled death

One was enough to hear

All at once I became fatherless forever

Disappointment muted words that could have saved him indefinitely

Daddy’s poems of life and death captured moments difficult to tell

In the end His books revealed the truth inside the cell

Incarnation held him while poetry retained him

Curses blinded his sight thousands of miles away

Drugs gave him illusions that mouths didn’t say

Lifeless his body lay days before Thanksgiving Day,

In eleven years my final images would be the deepest hurt

In paper his written words encoded the roots to my worth

His dreams were mine

Power I have I’m to create now in this time

Ears listen to words that never lie

Poetry lives, Poetry never dies!
