The Invisible Beast

Through beauteous fields we wander
Our minds free wherever we roam

A rainbow of color surrounds us
Luscious petals striving to protect us

Feeding our young minds
Assuring our fearless hearts

Though we could frolic and wander all day
A distant shadow distinctly looms

Making its way closer and closer
As time goes on, until we can almost feel it

Our free childishness gone
Burdened by the weight of the clock

It becomes a ferocious monster
Following our every endeavor

Always looming though we might not know
A silent but deadly foe

Now who is this monster? What is it’s purpose?
Oh, if we had only known sooner

If we had only known the monster following us about

Had only but one name:
Doubt.
