Invisible Pain

My mom calls out to me

The pain that hurts in my chest,

I feel her pain but she cannot see,

Every time I take a breath.

It’s slowly turning me insane.

Like a caged animal rattling its chain.

Trying to run, begging for freedom.

But that day will never come.

Nor will this emotional pain that weighs a ton

I continue to uphold it on my back

Just as Atlas

Am forever burden to hold it till I snap.
