It's Her Fault

Girls in high heels,

They’re the ones to blame.

Girls in short skirts,

They’re the ones to blame.

Girls with shirts too low and breasts too high,

They’re the ones to blame.

Not the boy who slips the drugs in drinks,

Not the boy who follows her home,

Not the boy who forces her down and ignores the no’s.

No of course not for he was provoked.

So when will the victim stop being blamed

When will justice call his name?

When will he have to pay the price?

She already did for you to have control that night.

With rape culture blaming the victim a lot of the time what really needs to change is the support system we give these victims. Instead of asking what they did to provoke the sexual assault, there needs to be the question of what can we do to help those already assaulted and what we can do to prevent more from happening.
