Just Look

When you look in a mirror, what do you see?

A smile, an eyelash, a splash of pink gloss?

Noticing her reflection, what does she see?

A short skirt, low-cut shirt, is she totally lost?

When he looks out the window, what does he see?

Bloodshot eyes, vacant glance, an expression of shame?

When they look at each other, what do they see?

The  fighting, the crying, who do they blame?

When I look at myself, do you know what I see?

A pair of hollow brown eyes looking back at me.

I carry inside me all that I know,

but when I look in a mirror, it won't ever show.
