Just a Smile

Dejected, crushed

Waiting for a miracle

She weeps in the shadows

Lonely, hushed

Her cries soft and lyrical

Knowing that just a smile

Would make her agony worthwhile

Hopeless and lost

Awaiting a distant change

He sits surrounded by others

Disheartened, cross

Bliss is a concept too strange

Yearning for just a smile

And someone to stay awhile

Euphoric, liberated

Instantly as they collide

Their pain drowns in joy

Jovial, elated

When tribulations subside

They share not just a smile

But synergy in a new lifestyle
