Just Walk ahead

Location

I am alone,

and the journey’s long,

can’t figure out what’s right, what’s wrong.

Messed-up, cluttered

my thoughts,

they race across my mind.

The road is rough,

the path  not tread,

weeds of pain line it’s banks;

fear has clouded my head,

can’t see or breathe, just walk ahead,

to the destination of which I dream.

Broken hearts and limbs,

Shadowy ghosts of the past,

float behind, chasing, searching,

I run, try to run

but dread has paralyzed me.

Yet I must move on,

keep going strong,

keep my eyes open,

keep walking to somewhere,

a place I know nothing of.

No footsteps ahead or behind

to guide me there,

going blindly, following my instincts,

afraid, my heart beats within me,

asking, will you make it?

I must, I will reach it,

there is no other way,

this is the only path, the hardest one.

I trudge ahead, just walk ahead,

to the destination of which I dream.
