Knock Knock By: LB Hues (Langston Barboza)

Knock Knock

Sit and Imagine, kid

Contemplate, meditate, deliberate

Your time is limited in this vessel

Trails you’ll blaze

Burn bridges and trestles

Blood and dust you’ve left behind

Fear and lies you’ve let slip by

In time, I hope you find

That through rhymes

You can aline

All the thoughts you thought should not be thought

Secret revelations that can’t be bought

Think of the blood and dust wasted

On the tainted shit you sought…

But I digress,

This is for my children who would rather progress

Than Impress

Rather create their own quest

Than waste time on a math tests

‘Cause what’s the A- or B+

When they can’t “C” us (laugh)

Save time for your life

Before it decides to leave us

I don’t know about you

But I’ve been plotting since a fet-us

And listen

Cause every step we take is progression

Can’t shake the obsession

But I shake the oppression

Slack is not my intention

No

Life has no concessions

No decompressions

My words are inspiration

Seekers of Knowledge, light and aspirations

Put my name on every station

Turn up that dial, open up, be patient

Always remember to live your life with full elation

Cause when blood and dust have all but left

Like a mysterious lover in the night

Can’t make out what its been through crooked sight

Have you taken flight?

Dropped pebbles of insight?

Learned to fight with might?

Oh, and remember, kid

The future is bright.
