Koi Pond

Last year I sketched our dream home

with two balconies and a koi pond in the backyard.

It was simple pen and paper

but the blueprint of our home was chiseled in the stones of my heart.

You left me, for him, in the warm part of the summer

and while you have since returned

the balconies have crumbled

and my koi pond

is a murky, dead puddle.
