A Lake in a Moor

Location

Serene, still and calm I lie,

Stretched beneath the heavenly sky,

Lapping the dewy grass around me,

Silently I ripple and smile.

For long, long days,

I watch the birds overhead fly,

Their joyous chirps of freedom,

They make me give me a wanting sigh.

The nights I pass alone,

Not a soul within sight,

I stare around with a heavy heart,

Knowing that there are still long hours for daylight.
