The Last Hope

Lustful flames roared with such intensity

Devouring the essence of endlessness

Leading to the arc of restlessness,

That was where he was found.

Burnt in the rubble of a distant glaze

The remnants of this life left behind.

In temptations curse, blood had seeped

Burning flesh underneath the boards of desire

The emptiness sprinting valiantly

Within hope given among the hearts

Of a mortal man that,

Through the wreckage fell apart

With every gift of love’s

Sweet embrace or divine presence

Among the rock of perseverance

Love itself long lost to these flames

That sanctified the day.

Giving away what all he had

The hopeful fate that redemption read

Aloud I knew that I was nothing

Yet then knowing he had nothing

I exceeded as if I had something

All the feelings of perpetuities

Tied in death’s grim corpse

Uplifting your void and beauties

The greatness of blasphemy

Reigning down in supremacy.

Regaining consciousness I focused will on

My future fastened for his life

Everything he had to surrender

Was containing the last hope he contained

Within his sweaty hands and smoke filled lungs

Deaths’ shallow embrace swallowed this hero

If angels had any idea

Of the sacrifice this man had made

They would bow their heads in shame

And feel lame for the tears they would cry

With pain living within their God-given hearts

For in his hands lied a little infant

Born of a father that died last bearing his own child

That was his son

And as he lay

Pleading for life

Cradled in his father’s arms

I bare no false witness that this warrior prevailed

Yet willingly gave his life out of love for his son

To live and prosper

I know not the intensions of this man

But as I took the child from his crisped flesh

I realized that this little boy had a sudden glow

An aura that gave him light…
