Leaving

In the sterile room she lays,

shivering from the cold she feels

against her shiny head.

She thinks of the dreadful gift

she found in her chest

just months ago.

She sheds a salty tear

as the needle

drips drips drips

fluid into her

icy veins.

She glances towards her dinner plate

where a steak knife

glistens under flourescent lights.

She picks up the blade,

kisses it,

and plunges it

into the mass in her breast.

Her astral body rises

and takes a look at its former shell.

Now, she flies

to a place beyond the stars

where pain, sickness, and lumps

exist no more.

A place where she will taste

a smile on her lips

again.
