Let Me Be Free

Location

Let Me be free to make a friend without worrying about their color

So I won’t offend

Let Me be free to go to the party and not be pressed

For being the girl wearing the best dress

Let me be free to gain knowledge all the while

Staying in the passing percentile

Without being racially profiled

Let Me be free

Let Me be free to live in your nice neighborhoods with the white picket fences

And the nicely mowed lawns without being feared and/or

Racially frowned upon

Let Me be free to make my mark on this nation

And stand tall and proud

Without Prejudice or racial discrimination

Let Me be free.

Your blood is red as is mine.

We are both equal-is that such a crime?

I breathe in liberty

Just as all of us do,

Let Me be free in my country,

Because just like you

I bleed red, white, and blue.
