Letter to my mentor

Dear grandma ,you taught me many things

But not how to be a poet in an undelightful world.

You taught me how to love but you forgot to tell me about the pain that comes with unrequited love.

You taught me kindness, but you forgot to tell me that not everyone would be kind to me.

You taught and showed me beautiful things but you forgot to tell me that not all that glitters is gold.

Dear grandma, you took out of me a piece when you left,

A piece that can never be returned,

A piece that is buried rather eight feet deep

Along with your body and soul.

Dear grandma, your teachings have both made and broken me.

It has been years but my mind can't stop tracing back to the memories made,

The songs we sang and learnt together

The peace that emerged in your presence.

But then, I came to a realisation that it solves nothing,

Wondering what could have been done solves nothing.

I further learnt that that we have to choose who we want to be

And not let the situation choose us.

I used to read a quotation that says

''Soon when all is well, you will look back on this day and thank God you never gave up''

This is it, the terrific day.
