Letter to "The One", I Miss You

Dear Tyler,

It’s been a minute since I’ve written, haven’t heard from you in a while.
Yesterday I was driving down the street and I saw these mansions
Up in Blackhawk where the millionaires stay
Green lawns, blue skys, real big cribs
And it was so beautiful
I thought of you
And how we used to drive and go see the houses and the mansions
Up where millionaires stay
And dream about living there one day
Together

And I was thinking about how back when things were different
And we hung out every single day for hours
I wrote you this song
Because I knew you were the person for me
The one they call The One:

[Note the switch up with the cadence. Maybe you can make a dope beat for this one. I miss being in the studio with you and seeing you create music. The smiles. The good times. Together.]

We were cruising down the highway in my blue Honda civic,
2004 2-door with the crank up windows in it.
Smile on my face, cuz you’re by my side.
Keep stealing peaks of you out the corner of my eye
Conversation was amazing and my minds racing
Cuz finally I found somebody who gets what I’m saying
We got that connection, so similar across the board
Could talk to you for hours and never ever get bored
We park the whip and chill, put the seats way back
No more searching for paradise, cuz this is where it’s at
I can see it in our smiles, I can hear it in our laughs
You make me forget about everything from the past
When I’m with you I want this moment to last forever
When I envision the future, I started seein’ us together
It’s crazy but I’m starting to think you’re my souls mate
and us being together is the result of fate.

My mirror, my reflection
When I’m with you there’s a deeper connection
I just wanted you to know
That your soul is beautiful.

What do you think?

Miss you, T…Maybe one day we can give us another chance…
I would like that
More than you will probably ever know

Maybe one day you can give me a second chance
I would like that
More than you will probably ever know

….enough of the sad stuff though.
I wrote another song though
I think you’ll like it
Since you love being a 90’s kid so much
Still gotta get you that old skool pager
But tell me what you think of this one:

Let me take you back in time,
take it back and press rewind,
Life is easy, there’s no stress,
no work, no school, no daily tests
I’m a child living free, laughing smiling little me,
Jumping rope, climbing trees, just got that dodgeball victory
Couches, blankets, built a fort, playing knockout on the court
Cardboard box is a spaceship, backyard camping in our tents
Playing MASH to find my match, “Ewww!” boys have cooties to catch,
Speaking of that “Gotta catch em all, playing Pokemon with my Pokeball,
Hit Blockbuster to rent some tapes, VHS those were the days
Oh snap! Book fairs this week!, all them readers knees get weak
Just a heads up 7Up let’s play Mancala that’s wassup
Disney, Cartoon Network, Nick, all them stations slapped back then!

Oh my gosh, what a time, what a time to be alive
Shout out all my friends who were born in 1995
So many memories, all of them so special,
So much hope, promise, and so much potential!
Maybe I would end up rich, be someone who you won’t forget
Doctor, lawyer, president, settle down with a house and kids
Firefighter, astronaut, private jet, maybe a yatch
Anything was within reach, all I had to do was dream...

These were the days of my childhood,
living free as a child should,
Yeah, grown ups, they seemed stressed out
Had no clue at all what that’s about
Rent, mortgage, bills, say what?
Turn up for the ice cream truck!
Riding bikes down the street,
making friends with any kids you meet
Run around, play pretend,
Get up Early, Never sleep in!
Getting high off a sugar rush,
Low key stalking on my crush,
Being goofy with my friends,
Blowing bubbles, doing handstands
Playing pranks and making jokes,
“Ayy you know what was lowkey dope?”
That rainbow, parachute thing from gym
Yo-yo’s, Yu-gi-yo, tops that spin,
GameBoys, GameCubes, phones with cords,
No reason to ever get bored
Cause we always had our imagination
The mind alone could take us places
Yeah life was great at that young age and,
all I even have to say is

Oh my gosh, what a time, what a time to be alive
Shout out all my friends who were born in 1995
So many memories, all of them so special,
So much hope, promise, and so much potential!
Maybe I would end up rich, be someone who you won’t forget
Doctor, lawyer, president, settle down with a house and kids
Firefighter, astronaut, private jet, maybe a yatch
Anything was within reach, all I had to do was dream...

What do you think?

Miss you T

Always

Much love,
Des
