Once upon a time I read a book

That one book turned into two

two turned into four, into eight.

Each book was like a journey

through an alternate universe

through a post-apocalyptic society

The black type and white pages

become vivid color pictures

my imagination grows with the turn of a page

Once upon a time I read a book

I devoured sequels, trilogies, and saga's

and more series than I have fingers

My vocabulary has notably enhanced

I formed friendships with fellow bookworms

English essays are a cakewalk 

The problems of the world don't exist in the pages of a book

TV is boring and the computer is dull

I create stories of my own

Once upon a time I read a book

That one book changed my life
