The Life of Me

The life of me is a story you would want to follow faithfully
Breath taking, heart racing, death wanting the last breath from me
But motivation, a stance I’m taking, going head to head with the enemy
He knocks me down, faking defeat plotting my next move
While he’s unfocused, unguarded… laughing at me
You see the life of me, is a story that’ll make you believe
How kids get confined to life broken, abused, stepped on so low their hearts start sinking internally
The morals become absent
Violence rage and pain fills their character, vengeance becomes their passion
Self-taught our own rules is what happened
Unable to follow orders of anyone who reminded us of the kidnapping
Kidnapping of our innocence without even asking
Kidnapping of our smooth skin now full of scars
Indelible memories constantly harassing
Kidnapping of our voice when we got verbally branded
Kidnapping of our future as the torment ate away at our hope and revenge became the best thing
Making us victims to society, killers, woman beaters, sex addicts and crack fiends
Pill poppers, heartless womanizers, stray teens
Suicidal and a homeless society living off of hope that we would pray for, but never came
You see the life of me, is not to be taken as a biography
But related to as the demons and barriers confining you constantly
Have you, or know someone who’s had their innocence stolen without consenting
By their own father, or family members who abused you or them as their sex dream
Have you or know someone who’s been abused verbally faithfully
Had your self-esteem stolen away from you
Suicidal thoughts trying to convince you that it was the best thing for you
Afraid of males who brought the pain and torture memories of neglect towards you
Attracting to the same sex is what tried to keep you safe and keep the pain from catching up to you
Worrying when your next meal would provide strength and nourish you
Tormented by the virus that unsafe sex had brought to you
The naughty man who infected you as he held you down and forced himself inside you
But the hope for better days will continue to be a dream for you
Everyday we struggle this is what the life of me means to you
