The Life of a Rose

Oh rose, beautiful rose

How sweet thy summer blossoms thee

Droplets hang from thy lush petals

Joyful bumblbees buzz around thy scented head

Oh rose, elegant rose

Thy sturdy stalk rightly upholds thee

All passerby stop to behold thine face

And prickly thorns protect from sinners disgrace

Oh rose, gentle rose

In kingly valley and hills do thee lie

Thou art more lovely than spun gold

My love for you the bells have tolled

Oh rose, glorious rose

The sun will ever shine for thee

Your fragrant blossoms entice me

Thy scent, your smell, thine elegant bouquet

Oh rose, lighthearted rose

Boistrous winds do blow through your valley

Caution rose!

Guard thyself against the oncomming torrent.

Oh rose, poor rose

The storm doth shake thy once sturdy stalk

Thy wilting petals are stripped away

Cold rains and hail have vanquished the sun

Oh rose, pitiful rose

Thy stem is presently bare and fruitless

The bright, cold sun unmercifully shines

Winter is come

Oh rose, don't despair rose

Underneath thy bleak and lowly state

Is a new growth, a new beginning

Just wait.

Oh rose, have hope rose

My beautiful, red rose
