The Lion Within

As a cub, life was hard.

Although he was the son of the Queen,

the other cubs did not know

what happened behind closed doors.

The King and Queen constantly argued.

With the cub being a cub,

he didn’t pay much attention to it.

He thought all of it was supposed to happen.

Then came the day that the King and Queen

had their last battle.

The King decided it was best to leave,

leaving the cub in his past.

As the cub grew, he realized he did not need King.

Soon he forgot about the king,

for he had much more to worry about.

It was at this moment the cub knew he was growing up.

Life was much harder as the cub grew.

The worst part was he had to worry about hunters

just because of what animal he was.

But… at least his mane was starting to grow.

Later on, the cub began to make friends

while staying away from making enemies.

As he got older, he acquired a skill

of easily making new friends which he learned to appreciate.

Now the cub has grown into the big, strong lion

he has always dreamed of becoming.

He stands tall, full mane, ready

to begin the next part of his life as an independent KING
