This Little Girl

This little girl, staring you in the face.

Why, she used to be yours.

But this little girl, staring you dead in the face,

why, you couldn’t keep her.

Why, this little girl ain’t yours anymore.

Oh, you couldn’t keep, and now

as she’s staring you dead in the face,

fire in her eyes,

lighter in one hand,

gasoline at her feet.

Oh, do you see how this little girl

isn’t yours anymore?

This little girl, staring you in the face.

Why, she used to be yours.

But this little girl, staring you dead in the face,

why, you couldn’t keep her.

Why, this little girl ain’t yours anymore.

Oh, it’s not like she missed you,

not even as she ran away.

You had her, you broke, you lost her.

Oh, haven’t you seen the pain these days?

It’s not a secret where she’s going.

She won’t forget.

She’ll just be forgotten.
