Little Girl Lost And Found

Location

Little Girl Lost and Found

(The following is a realistically fictional dedication to the lost women I have encountered in my life including those who have found themselves and those who have yet to…)

There is a baby inside of you

She is lost, she is scared

She is lonely and confused

She is alone in the dark

With no clue of what to do

And she waits for someone to find her

To teach her to grow

Why she is stuck

in the very depths of mother’s soul

She does not know

Baby girl lies in the midst

Of pain, confusion and emptiness

She’s lost with no map

She’s stuck in a trap

She is under attack

By insecurity, low self-esteem,

Trust issues…

Someone, please take her back

To her mother

Oh, but mommy seems fine

Or does she?

Shaking and sucking for nickels and dimes

Walkin’ round naked

With baby daddies who bring home the bacon

By court order that is

Laid up popping out kids

Crying at night ‘cause her children have no father

She never did;

She also never had boundaries

Nor did she have self-respect

And baby girl’s still lost and suffering neglect

Can’t tell if her name is whore, slut, or bitch

Whatever she went through had her damaged, stuck

But the little girl tried her luck

One lonely night

Mommy lay crying, to God

No job, no man and baby girl was dying

Baby girl who was lost had one slip of courage

And was given strength by dear God

Who whispered, “Go on, and go for it,”

The warmth of God came over the mother

And ceased her cry

So she’d hear baby girl speak this line

“Hello you, long time no see…if you haven’t noticed,

I am you and you are me…what you ought to know

Right here and right now, is that yes, we were lost but

According to God we are found.”

Before then, mother didn’t know about baby girl

The one that never got a chance to see the world

The one that now fills her empty spaces, along with God

The one who just yesterday was alone and lost

Now that baby girl can grow

She will be the best woman mother has ever known

And when baby girl is all full grown

She will take her place in mother’s body, mind and soul

And if you feel that you can relate

Know that it is never too late

Know that you hold the key

And that it is up to you when little girl lost

May become little girl found, healed and free.
