The Little Things

Happiness. It is small things that we encounter on a daily basis,

It is feeling under the weather and finally returning to homeostasis.

It is spending time with your family on a freezing winter night,

Or watching the sun rise up in the morning so big and so bright.

It is being incredibly hungry and finally getting mouthwatering food,

Or your favorite song coming on the radio, improving your mood.

It is your dog greeting you when you arrive home at the door,

Or the crystal blue water gliding over your feet as you stand at the shore.

It is waking up at six and realizing it is Saturday,

Or reuniting with your bed after a long trip away.

It is laughing with great friends until your stomach aches,

Or learning and improving from past mistakes.

It is knowing how much someone loves you by the look in their eyes,

Or helping someone with a problem, feeling ever so wise.

It is inside jokes that aren’t close to making sense,

Or finally being relaxed after feeling really tense.

It is good memories that burn in the back of your mind,

Or talking to a stranger who is nothing but kind.

Happiness is something we can find in all the days,

It is something that can happen in even the simplest ways.
