Lost, You Are

Lost, you are

Finding love in the

Arms of some other man

Losing yourself to some

Drunk not sure

Of where you can go next

Losing hope in the words you say

Breaking skin in hope to find

The one man who left you

Left you alone with nothing

But the guilt of your mother’s death

The one who carried you

For nine months and never

Saw your first smile

The smile that was stolen

Right from your lips

The day you turned 4

Taken away from what

They called home

Taken from the only place

You felt of worth, yet,

Lost, you are

Taking every step for granted

But never changing your ways

Breathing in harsh chemicals

And coughing up hate

Lost for words you

Sell yourself for

Money to buy a meal

And a temporary room

To call home

Hiding your scars in the dark

To guard you from hate

Yet digging a hole

Just waiting for that day

Lost, you are

Holding on by a thin line

Gripping onto any possible hand

But you’re slipping

Falling deeper and deeper

Finally

Lost, you are

You let go…

You fall and you unravel

And cease to exist

Not knowing that what you hold

Is the child whose

Life could have been yours
