Love for A Country

Location

In this grand country we live in

In the great US of A

There is nothing we aren’t allowed to think

There is nothing we aren’t allowed to say

Because of thousands of heroes

Who daily risk their lives

They miss their friends, their children

Their husbands or their wives

Not only do they protect their family

They, in the same way, defend you and me

Leave home to guard millions of strangers

Across many lands, and across many seas

56 men signed a document

Dated in 1776

The Thirteen Colonies pushed for freedom

This new nation was rebuilt like with bricks

And it is really sad to think

But sometimes people you love have to leave

Departing to fight for people they will never meet

But this country is their family is something they believe

And I’m starting to know how it is like

To see that loved one prepare to go

This man’s love for our country is something I’ve never seen

He is my boyfriend, and His name is Joe

His plan is to join the NAVY

To serve his country as a Marine

I asked when he made this plan, and he said “Middle school”

So he decided to do this before he was even a teen.

What I love the most about him

Is the patriotic feeling he shares with me

And because of him and many others

I will always be free
