Love Hurts

Love hurts they say

It cuts you deep to the core, I'm told

Remaining only is hurt and pain

Loneliness and emptiness creeps its way

For it is not love

But fate and rejection

Rejection and fate

Rejection

The dismissing or refusing

Of a feeling, Of a person, Of an idea

It keeps us up asking why

Filling the bed with tears

For fate is even worse

It's meant to be for them, but not for you

An inevitable outcome not yours to decide

And even then you try to beat it

It is cruel and unfair

For there is nothing fair to come of this world

Pain and hurt is to come of it

Only hope you hold from within

That is to be shattered with a dose of reality

It hurts like a wound that can never heal
