The man

They told me I would never be the man

Instead, a role player with a single fan.

They told me I wouldn't be a starting player

Well I raised the bar to a whole new layer.

I worked so hard that offseason

My abilities increased to a point they thought I committed treason.

It felt so good to prove the doubters wrong

When I hit a home run, "Going..going..gone"'.

I played baseball so I had the chance to excel

My intentions came true, my game was rounding out well.

Imagine overcome adversity and defeating the odds

People acknowledge success, in school the cool kids gave me head nods.

It was all starting to fall in place

Like my fielding while I played first base.

It felt fantastic to have my own group of fans

It felt even better to be The Man.
