March for Democracy (a villanelle)

We are not living under the third Reich,
I march in stride with cogent sign in hand.

This is what a Democracy looks like.

We finger through causes, plug holes in the dike,

No truer words than a dreamer’s homeland;
We are not living under the third Reich.

LGBT and women’s rights will spike;
find your own battle cry and take a stand.
This is what a Democracy looks like.

Fight, post, enlist neighbors to form a strike,
allow immigrants in, protect our land.
We are not living under the third Reich.

Dispel the hatred from a Neophyte;

volunteer, call, help others understand.
This is what a Democracy looks like.

From shore to shore on a glorious hike,
let freedom ring, while together we band;
We are not living under the third Reich,
This is what a Democracy looks like.

This poem is in the style of a villanelle... It should be 5 tercets and the final stanza a quatrain...I'm trying to submit in the right format, but am having trouble converting to what you want.  Support would be appreciated before I submit my last two poems.

Thank you,

Allen Smuckler
