Marigolds

He told me I looked better

With a bright orange flower in my hair

It reminds him of the innocence

Of our first date to the fair

Our love back then felt so new

Everything I felt was so rare

Wherever he went

I was there

But now that's all gone

My heart is just a split open tear

I'm sitting in our special garden

That’s right behind my home

Where you helped plant the flowers

With a special section for the marigolds.
