Mary Lou

Location

Mary Lou put down the phone

Then placed her hand over her heart

In that moment she felt alone

The cancer was breaking her apart

The doctor looked at Mary Lou

He met the courage in her eyes

"You have to do chemo, it's true"

He didn't dare to tell her lies

Mary Lou woke up one morning

Then cried because it just wasn't fair

Her father held her in her mourning

On the floor by the bed was her hair

Mary Lou pinned on a pink ribbon

Then went to take one last test

"It's come back, your death has been given.

You should give out your last request."

"1996-2012" was etched on her grave

After Mary Lou succumbed to the fight

"Don't give up. Be strong. Be brave."

She never lost sight of the light
