The Mask

There is a girl,

Who lives behind a mask.

Her mask is a smile,

A laugh,

A lighthearted joke.

No one sees what

The girl hides behind her

Mask.

Where no one is looking,

She hides a tear,

A scar,

An unescapable darkness.

Depression consumes her.

Loneliness eats at her soul.

One day,

It will all become

Too much for her to bear.

Soon,

She, too, will fade into

The shadows,

Unable to wear the mask.
