Marguerite Annie Johnson Angelou was known as Maya Angelou,

she wrote three books of essays and seven biographies,

but there's something else you don't know,

she had a brother who was thrown in jail and she had a son,

little young and with dreams,

with a pen or pencil in hand and words in her mind,

back in the day to other I know how crazy it seems,

and with a personailty that was for her sweet and kind.

never giving up is what she did and now her  story is told,

with determination she was bold,
